Open House

In the Classroom This Week:


This week we read about Holy Week and we discussed as a class the importance of each of the 3 days that lead up to Easter.

Language Arts

In Writing and Grammar students will learn how to identify and use the correct tense of irregular verbs. The spelling of the word may change depending on the tense and students will need to know the correct spelling of the past, present, and future tense of the irregular verb

Students will be taking Unit 14 Spelling Test on Thursday.


Students are continuing to work on Chapter 11, Multiplying and Dividing Fractions and Mixed Numbers. There will be a quiz on Thursday focusing on 11.1- 11.8. Students will need to know how to model a multiplication equation and solve.

The Chapter 11 test will be on Thursday, March 29th.

Students should be reviewing their daily notes that are taken in class.


Students can begin to bring in their Science Project and/or molecule on Thursday, March 22nd to display at Open House and VIP/Grandparents' Day for extra credit.

Social Studies

Students have done a fabulous job on their state trifolds. They will begin presenting on Monday, March 26th. Every student needs to be prepared to present. I can't wait to hear about each state. State trifolds are due by Wednesday, March 21.

Students will be displaying their trifolds on Open House and VIP/Grandparents' Day.

Students can bring in their American Indian shoe box project Thursday, March 22nd to display at Open House and VIP/Grandparents' Day and receive extra credit points.

All extra credit for the state research will be due on Thursday, April 12. We will be doing the food on this day. Students have all the information regarding extra credit options. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.


Rice Bowls

Students are filling "rice bowls" to collect money during this Lenten season as part of our almsgiving. . Thank you for giving this Lent! Please return all Rice Bowls by Thursday, March 29th.

Schedule Reminders

Thursday, March 22- Minimum Day- 6:00- 7:30 pm Open House

Friday, March 23- VIP/Grandparents' Day- please refer to the Tuesday packet regarding the changes to VIP/ Grandparents' Day. Students will be dismissed at 12:30. Any student that leaves before 12:30 must be signed out in their classroom. Please do not go to the office to sign them out. Campus Care will be available.

Wednesday, March 28- 1:15 8th grade leads in Living Stations of the Cross in the Community Center.

Thursday, March 29th- 9:15 prayer service and 12:30 dismissal.

Friday March 30- April 8- Easter Break.

Third Trimester Changes:

  • Late work will not be accepted after being published for one week on SchoolSpeak (from Tuesday to Tuesday). After one week, scores will be changed to zero credit. We hope students have built organizational and time management skills to turn in assignments complete and on time to be ready for 6th grade.
  • The 2nd Trimester "No Name" policy will remain, that any assignment turned in without a name will lose 2 points of the assignment score.
  • Students must earn at least 15 AR points in the 3rd trimester.
