Apollo Early Childhood Center
April, 2024 Updates
Principal's Corner
Dear Families,
Happy April! This month brings with it the beginning of spring weather, more sunny days, and warmer temperatures.
Please remember that even with Mother Nature’s unpredictable mood, children should come to school prepared to play outside each day as weather permits. Items to have readily available include a coat, hat, gloves, a spare set of shoes, and an extra set of clothes.
This month, I have a couple of safety reminders that I would like to pass along. First, I would like to remind everyone to slow down in our parking lots, and to be mindful of the direction of traffic. Our little ones move quickly and are shorter than many car bumpers. Split second decisions are difficult to manage at high speeds, or when driving against traffic, or when distracted. Additionally, I would like to ask that we all be mindful of our handicap parking spots. Only drivers with approval from the DMV, and who have appropriate documentation on their vehicle, should be utilizing handicap accessible parking spaces. On the same note, please remember that unless DMV approved, parking in the bus unloading and loading area during peak bus traffic times (between 7:45-8:20 am and 2:45-3:15 pm) is prohibited. As always, I appreciate your support with the measures that we have in place to keep our students and the Apollo community safe.
Finally, 2024-2025 registration is open for our fee-based preschool classrooms. In addition, we are accepting pre-enrollment applications for our 2024-2025 Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) as well. Information about both are attached below.
I hope that you all have a wonderful month ahead.
Warm Regards,
Jen Kidd
Month of the Young Child
The purpose of this Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. The Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize that children's opportunities are our responsibilities, and to recommit ourselves to ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early environment—at home, at child care, at school, and in the community—that will promote their early learning.
For more information and for some fun activities that you can engage in at home throughout the month, visit https://www.naeyc.org/events/woyc.
