Oso Mudslide

What Happened:
On Saturday, March 22, 2014, at about 10:30 in the morning local time, a major landslide occurred 4 miles east of Oso, Washington. A portion of an unstable hill collapsed, sending mud and debris across the North Folk of the Stillaguamish River, destroying a rural neighborhood , and covering an area approximately 1 square mile and 43 people were killed.
Ecological Impact
The mudslide hit Darrington and state route 530, it dammed a river causing extensive flooding. Rock debris where as long as 1,500 ft to 4,400. 108 people are missing as of Monday morning, and 43 people are confirmed dead. The mudslide destroyed about 30 homes.
Restoration Efforts
It caused 10 million dollars in damages. Rescue workers dig in piles of debris to find victims of the mudslide on highway 530. 911 services are the first ones there to help to restore the damage of the OSO Mudslide.
