Alkali Metals
- Will B. -
What are they?
Elements such as Lithium, Sodium, Potassium, Rubidium, Cesium, and Francium.
These are elements that react to water, that can form strong alkaline hydroxides.
Some Examples of the Product
Lithium
A soft, silver-white metal which is the lightest and least dense solid element.
Potassium
A soft, silvery-white alkali metal which oxidizes rapidly in the air and can ignite hydrogen.
Francium
One of the two least electronegative elements, also a highly radioactive metal that decays into astatine, radon, and radium.
Where do you find them?
Alkali Metals are located in Group 1 of the Periodic Table.
What are they used for?
Alkali Metals react violently with water, and release hydrogen and form hydroxides.
