NHS Food Drive
The National Honor Society at BBCHS had their annual food drive. Thanks to the students and staff that participated, they were able to collect 1533 items to donate to the Salvation Army. This will be great assistance to many of our neighbors in need during this crucial time of the year. Ms. Forbe's 2nd hour class won the class competition with over 516 points!
BBCHS Biology
Faith Quigley, a ninth grade student in Mr. Schreiner's Honors Biology class discusses the roles of Opsins, which are the proteins that make up the photoreceptors are specialized cells called rods and cones and allow us to see color as well as being able to see in dim light. Mr. Schreiner stated that "Faith is an exceptional student who is intrinsically motivated to learn new things. I'm very lucky to have this young lady in my classroom because she adds to the class. She makes my class better." Mr. Schreiner is using an inquiry and discover based approach to learning. "Students think they can only learn by lecture. Life presents problems and we need to learn how to solve those problems ourselves, and not rely on someone else. My job is to facilitate that learning." Mr. Schreiner also stated that, "What we are learning in Honors Biology through the implementation of Next Generation Science activities and teaching methods goes way beyond what a ninth grade science student is expected to learn. BBCHS is setting the bar very high." Faith's presentation can be found on YouTube by searching "BBCHS Biology". Mr. Schreiner maintains a webpage on YouTube that has content related videos that students can use to supplement their learning.

Beauty and the Beast Transforms BBCHS Auditorium
The BBCHS Theatre Department never fails to create an atmosphere of wonderment with their performances, and this year's production of Beauty and the Beast, directed by Mr. David Morgan, was no different. This year's cast was made up of 58 very talented high school students and 33 young up-and comers from our feeder schools. This musical showcased the talent in the area that will shape the face of theatre in the Bradley-Bourbonnais area for years to come. Members of the community were quoted as saying "It was amazing, I have no words. The talent they have is just outstanding!" All five performances were sold out, with folding chairs brought in to try and accommodate all those in the community coming to the play! It is a statement to the talent within the Bradley Bourbonnais community and halls of BBCHS. Follow BBCHS Theatre Experience online at bbtep.org for more information and announcements for upcoming shows!

BBCHS Choir Holiday Concert
The Choirs of BBCHS will be presenting a Holiday Concert on December 20, 2016 at 7PM in the Auditorium. This year there will be a special performance of 'Candlelight Carol', the signature piece on our Holiday Concert for the last thirty years! We are asking any alums of the choir from 1986-2016 to attend and help us keep up the tradition of singing 'Candlelight Carol'. Alums have always been invited to sing but this year we are making an effort to get as many singers as we can to celebrate the 10th year of 'Candlelight Carol'! In fact, John Kelleher, the director that started this tradition, will be flying in from Seattle for this event! So, invite anyone you know that sang under John Kelleher, Linda Gordon, Monica Brigham, or Cheryl King! Singers will be able to rehears the piece prior to the concert and may use music if necessary!
