Media Messages

A newsletter for LMES teachers, parents, and students

August 2012

Welcome back!

We're excited to kick-off a brand new school year. Newsletters will be sent out periodically to inform you of learning resources, new books, reading programs, research projects, tech tips, special events, and other news. By the way, if you haven't checked out Smore (http://www.smore.com/app), give it a try. It's super easy for creating newsletters, flyers, and invitations. And it's free! Let us know how we can help you throughout the coming year.

Library Orientations

Get ready to take a virtual tour! Students will watch a special video to learn more about what the library media center has to offer. Important information will be covered such as where books are located, how to search for books, book care, and of course how many books can be checked out. Students in grades 3-5 will also take part in a fun QR code scavenger hunt. Pay close attention so that you can be a winner.

South Carolina Book Award Challenge

Our popular reading program will be gearing up in a few weeks. We have multiple copies here in the media center for you to checkout at the start of school. Mrs. Matney will book talk the nominees to students in grades 1-5 following library orientations. Information on the reading goals and cut-off dates will be also be given.
