We're excited to kick-off a brand new school year. Newsletters will be sent out periodically to inform you of learning resources, new books, reading programs, research projects, tech tips, special events, and other news. New DISCUS Databases

Three awesome resources are now available through DISCUS, South Carolina's Information Place - Email Mrs. Matney if you need the log-in info for home use.

NoveList K-8 Plus

Need reading recommendations? Use NoveList to find great fiction and nonfiction books including read-alikes, series, curriculum-based book lists, picture book extenders, discussion guides, and award winners. This video tutorial can help you get started -

BrainPOP Jr.

Perfect for grades K-2, BrainPOP Jr. offers animated, curriculum-based content including short instructional movies, interactive games, and activities. Teachers, don't forget to enable closed-captioning to help our readers.


Searchasaurus has replaced SIRS Discoverer. Search for a topic and find kid-friendly encyclopedia articles, dictionary entries, pictures, and maps. Perfect for research!

Library Orientations

Get ready to take a virtual tour! Students will watch a special video to learn more about what the library media center has to offer. Important information will be covered such as where books are located, how to search for books, book care, and of course how many books can be checked out. Students in grades 3-5 will also take part in a fun QR code scavenger hunt. Pay close attention so that you can be a winner.

South Carolina Book Award Challenge

Our popular reading program will be gearing up in a few weeks. We have multiple copies here in the media center for you to checkout at the start of school. Mrs. Matney will book talk the nominees to students in grades 1-5 following library orientations. Information on the reading goals and cut-off dates will be also be given.
