What we are learning in Room 12...
This is the area of the weekly newsletter where parents/guardians can be informed of what is planned for our week. If your child is going to be absent, please let me know in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - We are using songs and fun websites to learn about fractions. We have learned how to identify and write the shaded and unshaded parts of fractions.
- Reading - Every Tuesday from now until the AIR test in April will become "Test-Prep Tuesday" and we'll learn how to read passages and answer questions on the test. Students will start researching their biographies this week about people important to Black History Month. Feel free to print articles at home and send them in or help your child find an informational book about their biography person at the library.
- Writing/Spelling - Spelling words are focused on "prefixes." There is a test on Friday. In writing class, we will start learning about fact/opinion and begin our opinion writing unit.
- Social Studies - We have been learning about Tallmadge History and also what it was like to live in the 1700s/1800s. We are currently reading a series of historical fiction read alouds and students have had to decide what "10 items" they would take with them if they were "moving west."
