MARCH (Musicians Acting with Responsibility, Compassion, and Hard work) is an all band and guard fundraiser. Our GOAL is to raise a significant amount of the operational funds for RHS band in a single workday. We are also striving to create ownership within the band student body while making a substantial impact in our community. Apart from some costs for the student prize incentives, 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the band program. For more info go to: https://www.roswellband.com/calendar-events/march/
For this event to be significantly effective, its required for ALL of our band and guard members to participate.
There are two parts of this fundraiser; raising funds, and a service work day.
Part 1: Raising Funds
This Friday, January 24th we will be distributing packets to all band and guard members. Students are to start on requesting donations right away. We will accept cash, check or online donations at RoswellBand.com. All donations are tax deductible. The goal for each student is $400. Here are a few suggestions:
Tip #1: Request a $40 donation. That’s $5 per hour for an 8-hour workday.
Tip #2: Focus on raising $100 by every Friday in February.
We will have prizes to give out including those overachievers who exceed $400!
Part 2: Service Work Day
Save the date! On Saturday, March 7 ALL students commit to an 8-hour work day to give back and beautify Roswell. It’s a great experience! Some of the work sites include Vickery Creek, Smith Plantation, Dada’s Playground, the Chattahooche River, Waller Park, Mimosa Elementary, Fulton County Foster Care, Mountain Park Elementary and Crabapple Middle School. Stay tuned for information on how your student can sign up and how you can even help chaperone that day!
It takes a village. We NEED you!
1. Ask your students about the envelope they receive this Friday! And help them achieve the $400 target.
2. Please consider volunteering for this fun event! We can use help on our t-shirt design, promotions and chapersones to serve on Saturday, March 7. Contact Gretchen Shirley (gmarie869@gmail.com) or Anne Marie Canty (anniecanty@yahoo.com) to get plugged in.
CHAPERONES NEEDED FOR LGPE (MARCH 10, 12)
In March, the three classroom bands participate in an event called Large Group Performance Evaluations (LGPE). What is LGPE? It is the equivalent of an end of course test in other subject areas (except that it happens mid-semester!) This year's event takes place from March 10-12 at Centennial High School.
Here are the itineraries for those days:
Concert Band
Wind Ensemble
Symphonic Band
We need several parents to help chaperone at these events. We also need photographers!
Here is the link to the March calendar on CHARMS; select the day you want to help. https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/newcal.asp?month=3&year=2020
As we prepare for this annual evaluation, it is CRITICAL that students attend all rehearsals. During sectionals, we get into some very specific details in the music that we may not be able to teach as effectively during full band class. We also would love to see a packed house at our Pre-LGPE Concert February 11 at 7:00 PM here at Roswell High School. Mark your calendars now and show your support for the hard work that the students have done!
