Before, During and After
Before the war was started President Dwight D. Eisenhower had pledged his firm support to Diem and South Vietnam making us allies. Both presidents were wanting both communist and non-communist to form the National Liberation Front (NLF) to organize resistance to the regime.
During the war there were so many casualties they no longer drafted it was all-volunteer force and the country to reduce the voting age to 18. The war was weakening the U.S. military morale and discouraging, for a time, so the U.S. commitment to internationalism.
After the war ended impacts of high explosive bombs continued after the war ended, which was still problems because of as many failed to explode on impact and have caused considerable problems since.
