BEDFORD JR. HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL EARNS STATEWIDE RECOGNITION

Bedford Jr. High Student Council has earned recognition as a Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) Sweepstakes Council, the highest honor a TASC council can achieve. Sweepstakes councils must first earn recognition as an Outstanding Student Council based on documentation of student council organization, specific project areas, participation in TASC programs, and an evaluation by your administrator. In addition, Sweepstakes Councils must earn recognition in the areas of Pride and Patriotism, Energy and Environment, and Drugs, Alcohol, Safety and Health. Finally, Sweepstakes councils must submit their accomplishments in School and Community Service. It takes passion, dedication, purpose, planning, and hard work to achieve this. Only exceptional councils earn this honor, and you set the bar to which other councils should aspire.

As of April 2023, only 233 student councils in Texas have earned this recognition for 2022– 2023 out of 1,166 member schools. We are in an elite group. BJH is the only Jr. High to earn this honor in HEB.

NJHS SCHOOL YEAR WRAP UP

Wow, what a tremendous year we had! Active members logged in 146 service hours this school year. Our blood drive collected 28 whole blood and 5 double red donations. Insane! That is an increase from our first donation in 2022. We also added our student newsletter, written by our ninth grade officers, this year. We visited TCU during their epic football season. Mrs. Keneda is thankful for everyone’s commitment to our community. Remember that she is looking for officers for the 23-24 school year. Officer positions include President, Ninth Grade Vice President, Eighth Grade President, and Secretary. What will we achieve next year? Get active in NJHS and find out!

BJH Campus Clap Out

Big picture
Prior to dismissal on Thursday all the students and teachers gathered in the hallways to say goodbye and wish Mr. Martinak good luck at his new position.

"I was flooded with emotions as I walked the campus one last time with my Bronco family. Bedford JH is a special place and will also hold a special place in my heart. I will miss all of the students and staff. This was an awesome surprise and a reminder of what makes Bedford the Best!", Mr. Martinak

POSITIVE REFERRALS

ROBEER EWIDA

Mr. Hearon would like to recognize Robeer Ewida for "doing the right thing." Robeer found a charger in the hallway and turned in to technology. Thank you for being an honest Bronco!

EDGAR ZEA

Ms. Givens would like to recognize Edgar Zea for "doing the right thing." Edgar turned in a phone that he found and helped identify whose phone it was. Thanks for doing the right thing!

JOSEPH SEALE

Mr. Martinak would like to recognize Joseph Seale for turning in a lost phone he found in the cafeteria. Thank you for doing the right thing!

MAKAYLLA RAY

Mrs. Gregg would like to recognize Makaylla Ray for turning in a lost electronic device. Thank you Makaylla for being an awesome Bronco!

HUNTER DEGNER

Mrs. Burdett would like to recognize Hunter Degner for his willingness to help others. We have been reading a novel in class for the past 2 weeks. Everyday when Hunter comes into room, he gets a book from the shelf for each student and places it on their desk. This has been helpful in ensuring every student is prepared for class. Hunter has been an excellent student this school year, and I am glad he is a part of our 3rd period class!

JORDAN GARCIA

Coach Schulz would like to recognize Jordan Garcia for his willingness to help others. Jordan saw a group of kids making fun of another kid before school and stuck up for him, telling the other group that that wasn't cool and to stop. Not only does it take a great heart to stick up for someone else in Junior High, but especially so when it's you vs a group of others. I really appreciate what Jordan did and think he's awesome for it!
