CCS Family-School Relationships Survey
Our school truly values feedback from families, and we would like to learn more about your child’s school experience this year. CCS is collecting responses for a Family-School Relationships Survey to learn how we can better support our community during the rest of the school year and beyond.
Parents and guardians, please take 10-15 minutes to complete the Family-School Relationships Survey by May 6th. You can access the survey at http://surveys.panoramaed.com/ccsoh/family; just select Gables Elementary School from the dropdown menu and click “Take this survey.” All responses are completely anonymous and will help us to plan programs, resources, and services for the remainder of this school year.
This survey is also available in Spanish, French, Somali, Arabic, and Nepali. To view the survey in one of these languages, click on the link above and select your preferred language in the dropdown menu at the top left of the page.

Supporting Our Transgender Youth

- Drop-in Center Programming (ages 12-20)
- Education & Training Program (virtual & in-person)
- KYC Community Based Wellness Program (ages 16-24)

To join the center's newsletter visit https://www.kycohio.org/get-involved.html. The newsletter's audience is primarily parents and family of transgender youth. More programming and support is being developed for families of transgender youth as well as transgender youth younger than 12. Please join the newsletter to learn more.
You can also watch a recording of Tuesday's session as well as past virtual engagement sessions here.
To support transgender people, you can [24 minutes in recording]:
- Respect identities and pronouns (even if you don't understand or agree). Respect the language and pronouns they use. We don't assume someone's name or age; don't assume their pronouns. It costs $0 to respect someone's name and pronouns!
- Practice! Be intentional and consistent. Ask pronouns, offer your pronouns. Understand everyone makes mistakes. If you err, offer an apology (in private) and continue. Thank them for corrections - corrections show they value you and want to continue the relationship.
- Be supportive - LGBTQ youth are a disproportionate portion of the homeless population, directly tied to the lack of support from family and friends.
- Create inclusive spaces! Be gender-neutral, use words/phrases like: "partner," "significant other," "parents," "guardian," "students," and "friends" rather than "boys and girls" or "ladies and gentleman", etc.
