CHS & Class ACT Board Report
September 2021
ACT Update
The ACT scores from last year are embargoed and will not be available to the public yet. The scores did not meet our expectations and we are confident that they will improve this next school year. Below is a list of what we are currently doing to improve our scores.
- Change the culture with our student body and strongly encourage our students to take it seriously. Our constant message to students is for them to do their best.
- Meet individually with all sophomores and juniors about their ACT Aspire score.
- We subscribed to Method Test Prep which is an online program for all grades that helps students prepare for the ACT. All our students work in this program two days a week during advisory. They can also practice outside of school on their own. Kelly Patterson and Juliet Corbett analyze the data 1-2 times a month to check student progress.
- There will be two full-length ACT practice tests during the school year. The first practice Act test will be on October 6.
- We are also looking at incentives for individuals and classrooms that show growth throughout the year.
Donation
Jim Habas is a gentleman who lives across the street from the high school. His son, Jeff, passed away this past year. Jeff was a very talented woodworker and owned quite a bit of top-of-the-line woodworking equipment. Jim was gracious enough to donate some of Jeff's equipment to our technical education programs in Jeff's name. Below is a list of the items donated.
- Makita 16 inch scroll saw
- QEP Industrial wet tile 7-inch saw
- Grizzly Hobby wet tile 6-inch saw
