Class of 2023 December Newsletter
6 months until graduation!
Goodbye 2022!
What a November! With the help of the Student Support Department we reviewed around 270 college applications before the November 30th deadline. A big shoutout to our Helix families who I'm sure served as proof readers, double checkers, motivators, and of course emotional support!
Next we will shift our focus to the community college process in the Spring. We will have ALL Helix graduates complete the Grossmont onboarding process to have a solid plan after graduation.
By completing the onboarding process for Grossmont College students will:
- Get priority registration
- Talk to a Grossmont College counselor to discuss classes for their 1st year of college
- Allow for them to complete the steps for the California Promise Program that will give them two years of community college for FREE!
How can they get started on this now? Complete an application at grossmont.edu if they haven't already! We recommend completing the application for Summer '23 in case they decide to take summer classes. The application will stay current even if they don't start until the Fall.

Attendance Matters at Helix Charter High School
Helix Families,
During the final three weeks of school before winter break, we are grateful to everyone for helping to restore a routine for showing up to school while supporting students and families.
We appreciate everyone’s efforts to avoid taking extra time before and after the winter break. As long as your student is healthy, please encourage showing up to class when school is in session.
Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn as well as to connect to their peers and teachers.
We thank:
● Our students and their families who do their best to show up daily even when it isn’t easy.
● Our teachers who go above and beyond to make school a welcoming and safe place for all students to learn.
● Our counselors, school social workers and administrators who help us work together to ensure we create a physically and emotionally safe and engaging learning environment.
● Our many, many healers and helpers - the support staff who provide the extra hands and attention our children need.
We appreciate each one of you. May these days off be restful and healing.
● If your family or your student needs support, please reach out to your Grade Level Team for assistance.
