Math Benchmark Information
Who: All 3rd-5th grade students should take the 1st semester benchmark assessment.
What: The benchmarks will be titled RHSD3-(Grade level)Benchmark (Quarter1/2)- Revised. Please make sure that you have the correct assessment loaded into your tracker and that any other benchmark assessments are deleted. Benchmarks will be between 35-40 questions. The questions will consist of standards from the 1st and 2nd quarters. Each teacher should have already created a tracker in his/her math course so that benchmarks can be accessed once they are distributed from the district math coaches.
When: Benchmarks must be taken during the assessment window (week of Jan. 8th- 12th). Students can take the assessment in one sitting or over several days. Consistency among grade levels is best when deciding how the benchmark will be administered.
Where: Benchmarks can be taken in the classroom on laptops, chromebook computers or Ipads. If using an Ipad, it is recommended to use the MasteryConnect App. For all other devices, Google Chrome is recommended.
Why: The 1st semester benchmark should be used as a progress monitoring tool. It can be used to guide data conversations to see what students have mastered and what skills continue to need support. It is not evaluative in any way and should not be used as a grade for students.
If you have any problems or questions, please contact your school representative that attended the MasteryConnect training, a technology specialist, or your district math coaches. You can also access the help videos in MasteryConnect at any time.

Information from Allison Paolini
From Allie:
On the 18th, several colleagues and I will be coming in to speak to the faculty about, instruction, as well as classroom and behavioral management techniques. It will be myself, Dr. Jennifer Jordan, Dr. Abigail Armstrong, Dr. Sherry Holyle, Dr. Walter Hart, Dr. Crystal Glover, and Dr. Lindsay Yearta. We are very much looking forward to our visit and discussion with the faculty!
Prior to our meeting on the 18th Allie asks that you to consider which strategies have worked in the classroom to improve classroom management / reduce disruptive behavior. This way everyone will come prepared to problem solve!

Math Benchmarks
Math benchmark assessments are currently being created. During the week of January 8th, third through fifth grade students will take the
first semester math benchmark test. Questions will consist of
standards from quarter 1 and quarter 2. Students will take an
additional math benchmark test during second semester.
Teachers will use results to guide instruction.
*What will we do with the results?
This will not be something the district will collect and score. Data will be entered in a similar way to the F & P data teachers enter on the monthly instructional spreadsheet on Canvas. I have already added two columns to the F & P spreadsheet for teachers to enter both benchmark scores.JA in a Day
