My opinion
I really like this book because it opens so many taboo questions in our society and it is also connected with history of the place where story is settled. I liked the story as well as the main characters because they were believable and sometimes I could feel all the atmosphere and tension between characters. I also like thinking of memories so this book was very readable. I recommend it to everyone who like historical and psychological view of modern problems and taboos.

People's opinion on the book
Here are some opinions on the book.
-This was such a touching book, I can quite see why it has been attracting such excellent reviews. There is also a lot squeezed into its 240 pages.-It’s a thoughtful story about confronting fears and one which gives us an insight into a way of life that would be very difficult at the best of times told in a way that makes it accessible to young people.
-An awesome read from a UK debut author and well worth a look especially if you have previously enjoyed the work of Murpurgo.
-I’d perhaps recommend it as a way of reaching out to children who are dealing with some of the issues outlined in the book, but I’d do so with reservation. On the whole, I found it to be a disappointing book.
-Having said that, I'm very aware that Ruth Eastham is a debut writer, and on the strength of the end of the book, this is an author to look out for. I personally, can't wait to see what comes next.
-I've just finished this one and loved it! Definitely on a par with Boy in the Striped Pyjamas for me!
my thinking
"It was like trying to make a cage for your memories. A memory cage to stop them getting away. But memories don't want to be trapped. They slip between the bars. Like smoke, like water. They get in, as well as out. I knew that. Better than anyone. But what were you if you didn't have memories? Memories were what made you who you were. If you lost your memories, you lost yourself. You were nothing. A ghost. Without memories, you didn't exist." - Ruth Eastham, The memory Cage.
