January
- Harvest all vegetables before Holiday Break
- Clean garden tools
- Continue adding organic materials to compost and turn to enable decomposition
- Mulch heavily (~2-3”) around plants to protect them from the cold
- Watch for bags of leaves on street curbs to add to compost bins and to use as mulch on beds
January
- Remove Bermuda grass, nut grass, other weeds, and last season’s vegetables
- Garden should be fertilized and then spaded thoroughly to a depth of 6-8”
- Add soil and compost as necessary (if soil levels look low, add more compost)
