What to download or bookmark on the personal device you are bringing:

It's time for conference! Where has this year gone? Planning away for me...so excited to share with all of you our conference and a few surprises along the way too!

We have two main conference apps to use on your personal devices (tablets, smartphones, etc. and no, they are not food appetizers, Trent!) :)

1.For conference session materials, handouts, and back-channeling:

Edmodo (free app for Apple and Android devices, and bookmark website too on computer)

Once you create your account, search for and friend the OELMA 2014 Annual Conference! The individual session join codes will be passed out with your registration packet when you check-in at registration!

2. For complete and up-to-date conference schedule:

The YAPP app:

free on iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/yapp/id482926558?mt=8)

Free on Adroid (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=us.yapp.android&hl=en)

Code to enter to view all things 2014 OELMA Conference:

*Free Wi-Fi will be available at conference and information on how to access will be given at registration!

In addition to our awesome sessions, be sure to check out...

  • Visit the Powell Room (2nd floor) for our bookstore brought to us by Barnes and Noble. A percentage of every book sale goes back to help OELMA, as if we had to twist your arm to buy a new book! All the authors at our conference will have books for sale in the bookstore so take a look and see what you can add to your personal or professional collection!
  • In the Conference Bookstore aka the Powell Room, brought to us by Barnes and Noble, check out our Raffle table as well with specially-made, themed baskets brought to you by our OELMA Regional directors! Enter to win the ones you want to take home. Open: during lunch time and time with vendors. Stop in and see what awesome baskets we have put together! All proceeds stay in OELMA.
  • OELMA's own Liz Deskins and Liz Bode are spearheading our first ever Welcome/Advocacy table at conference this year! Stop by, say hi, and pick up some good advocacy materials. Have a question? Need to find something? Stop by before the session begin, during lunch time, or after the conference day has ended and the amazing volunteers working at this table will be able to help you!

KEYNOTE SPEAKER-Steven L. Layne, Ed.D presents: Confessions of a Reading Arsonist

OELMA is excited to bring Ohio School Librarians a keynote address that will inspire, invigorate, and continue to ignite a passion for literacy for student lifelong success on Friday, October 24th at 9:00a.m.! His message will be one you will find not only essential to hear more about, but one you will want to take action on as soon as you return to your libraries!

Dinner for Friday Night-What you Need to Know!

Being so close to Polaris shopping and dining, we have already secured reservations at a large list of local area restaurants close to Quest. Please stop at the Welcome Table on Friday to "sign up" for a dinner reservation slot. You can choose to eat in a small group, or a large group-it depends on what you wish to do---you do not have to sign up for the reservations we have already made, but it does make things easier for you and your networking group! Just another way we are making this conference a little difference than the past...enjoy your evening, make new connections, and have fun!

Authors Galore!

We have more authors than we think we have ever had an OELMA conference (phew-we lost count at 27)! We hope you will be able to stop in during some of the author sessions or Speed Dating with Authors on Saturday afternoon and show them your support for their work. Many authors have agreed to come for much less than their normal author fees because they support Ohio school libraries, librarians, and OELMA so much and understands our current financial situation. Also, if you are able to purchase a book or two in the Bookstore from one or more of our Ohio authors, they will be happy to autograph them as well for you!

Saturday Lunch Theater-UPDATE!

Due to a scheduling conflict, the Ohio History Living Society had to cancel their Theater lunch for us (no worries, WE WILL STILL HAVE LUNCH but it will look a little different)!

Our lunch plans will be changing and we apologize for any inconvenience! Hopefully we can have them at another OELMA event!

AND DON'T FORGET! Wear your Every School Deserves... T-shirt and Bring Business Cards!

BRING and WEAR proudly your blue "Every School Deserves a Full-Time School Librarian" t-shirt which OELMA sponsored back in July/August via the funding website TeeSpring. We sold over 150 of these shirts online all over the country, so let's wear them proudly at conference either on Friday OR Saturday (you pick)!

BRING YOUR BUSINESS CARDS! This is the time to network and gain some new librarian friends for your Personal Learning Network! Ask for one...give one...take one...and TAKE CHARGE OF CHANGE!
