Helping the Hungry

There are many people who can't afford to buy food. Each year about three quarters of a million people are at risk of food insecurity in the Delaware Valley. About 27% percent of Philadelphians live below the poverty line.
For my TCA project I had a food drive for the Narberth Community Food Bank. I did a block by block challenge and asked neighbors to commit to my project. I handed out flyers around the neighborhood asking neighbors to donate food. They were asked to drop off the food in a big bin or to leave it on their front porches, and I collected it on Sundays. A lot of neighbors helped. Some people donated twice! I plan to donate the food on a Tuesday.
