Keep 'Keeping On'!
If you haven't joined yet, it's not too late. Go to the site here, register and starting logging. You can list active minutes all the way back to June 10 (2 weeks ago).
And of course, don't forget the motivation for winning--replacing uniforms for our 5th-8th grade 'Blue Jays'. Happy to report that the uniforms above aren't in use any more. But they do show the origin of the team name--the 'Blue J's!
Mandatory Athletic Meeting Reminder
Parents/Guardians of Aquin students (entering grades 4-12 in the Fall of 2015) who will be members of Aquin Athletic teams in 2015-16 must attend 1 Athletic Meeting each year. Meet this requirement at 1 of the following times in the Aquin High School Cafeteria:
- July 1 at 6:00pm
- July 14 at 6:00pm
- July 27 at 7:15pm
Most students fulfilled this requirement on the last day of school by attending the meeting following the All-System Mass. If the student was not in attendance then, he or she must attend 1 of the 3 meetings.
If you're not sure your student will be participating--but think there is a chance he or she will--please attend this meeting. This helps us have everything ready if the student decides to join the team on the 1st day of practice. Otherwise, he or she may have to sit and watch the 1st practice.

Read Park Tennis Courts Under Construction
The Freeport Park Board approved a contract with Civil Constructors to remove the six tennis courts at Read Park replacing them with four courts...two pods of two courts…that are wider and safer for doubles play. This configuration makes better use of the space in a more interesting layout and a smaller overall foot print that doesn’t encroach on the storm sewer easement at the East end of the existing court.
The goal is to complete the courts before school starts. In order to give the contractor the best opportunity to accomplish this goal, demolition of the existing courts will begin Monday, June 29th. Needless to say, the courts will be unavailable the balance of the summer, beginning Monday morning.
Laminated signs will be posted at the courts. We realize this project will place pressure on the Park District’s three courts in Krape Park but, with everyone’s patience and cooperation we can successfully navigate the inconvenience until the courts are finished and play can again be scheduled.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding…
