9.30 am – Session 1 – Why the iPad?

  • In what ways can the use of tablets support learning in the early years? (Nicola Yelland)
  • Overview of Truganina South Primary School approaches to learning with new technologies (Daryl English & Michael Laird)
  • A framework for learning with iPads – play based learning (Nicola Yelland) Play date time with iPads!

10.45 Morning tea

11.15 am – Session 2

  • Some examples of learning in the early years (Amy Henderson and Dean Hammence)
  • Encouraging literacy and numeracies and incorporating iPads - play and learn
  • School Tour and Apps in action.

12.45 – 1.15 – Lunch (provided)


1.15 – Session 3 – Bright ideas with Apps

  • Work in pairs to select Apps and think of 3 bright ideas for learning
  • Sharing ideas

2.30 – Wrap up and summary (Nicola Yelland)

  • Encouraging higher order thinking and learning with iPads
  • What are transformative pedagogies?
  • Where next?
