AMCMS Principal's Office
What's Going on in the Principal's Office?!
My Challenge to You
I hope that you had a restful and enjoyable spring break. Amanda and I went camping for most of the time off and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, even if just for a little while.
One of the conversations that was had while camping revolved around "Life Is Good" and the message these two brothers have set out to send to the world. On their website they have many things, including this video about how do teachers connect with kids. It is really short, about 2 minutes. You should watch it and then reflect upon how you connect with students.
Think about those that you connect with easily. Why is it so easy with those students? What about those that are more difficult to connect with, what makes those connections more challenging?
Now, I realize that we only have 10 weeks of school remaining but we still need to remember to focus on connections and relationships with students. We can undo a year's worth of work in just a few moments if we are not careful.
Take the time at the start of this week to reconnect with your students. Ask them about their break. Share some about your break. Remember to also restate your classroom expectations and procedures as reminders. Do not assume that kids will fall back into the routine and remember every expectation, they do have 7 different teachers and possibly 7 different sets of expectations. We all need reminders from time to time.
Think. Achieve. Succeed.
Jeff

Challenge Yourself.... 10 minute podcast.
The principal is George Couros and he shares what it really means to be a connected educator in the world of education today. The podcast is 10 and a half minutes. You should check it out!
You may ask yourself why be a connected educator? Here is why... who better to tell you how to solve a problem that you are having in your classroom than another classroom teacher?
Think about this...How does your teaching look currently? How different could it look with minor changes?
