The Layered Curriculum (tm)
Because every child deserves a special education!
Why is it called "The Layered Curriculum"? How do you "do" it?
Layered = Students' work must layer the different levels of thinking skills (identified by Bloom) to receive credit for the unit. Layering promotes higher and more complex thinking skills.
Doing it = all students begin by choosing from the bottom layer with more simple types of thinking tasks - rote, basic facts, etc. Each layer adds a more complex layer of thought process (for the student). The assignment doesn't have to be more complex, but the thinking the student must do to complete the assignment gets more complex with each layer.
