A Message from Stagg High School's Principal, Eric Olsen

Dear Stagg Families,

I wanted to take this opportunity to share with our families information regarding Stagg High School’s implementation of Stage 3 of the D230 Proud Return to Learn Plan. This week marks our second week in Stage 3. As has been shared, in Stage 3 we welcomed back students who chose to participate in the Blended Onsite learning two days a week, or what we refer to as the 50% model. Here is some information on what this model looks like at Stagg.

Class Sizes

Analysis of our class sizes in the Stage 3 environment show under 10 classes out of the 772 offered during the school day to be over 16 students. We will be working with these staff members on safety considerations for these classes. The IDPH Guidelines are to have a 6 foot distance between individuals if possible. Where it is not possible, we will work with staff to maximize the distance that their classroom allows.

Safety Procedures

To date, our safety measures appear to have been successful. Using the IDPH COVID-19 safety protocols, we have not documented any transmission of COVID-19 within the building and we have had only a small number of onsite close contacts identified through contact tracing. This is a credit to everyone following our safety protocols. All safety procedures will remain in place, including the one way hallways (which still takes some getting used to) and stairwells. Masks are to be worn at all times.

Please make sure that you and your child complete the Wellness Screener honestly. If a student has COVID-19 symptoms they should not be in attendance at school and must follow COVID-19 protocols. Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Personal Safety

The successful implementation of the D230 Proud Return to Learn Plan requires everyone to take safety seriously. Please follow IDPH guidelines outside of school, respecting guidelines related to mask wearing, close contact, group gatherings and travel. Our school community relies on everyone doing their part to take care of each other. This will be essential if we are to continue to provide onsite learning opportunities. This is how we show our Charger Pride!

District 230 COVID-19 Dashboard

District 230 has created a COVID-19 dashboard which updates weekly to share information regarding COVID-19 positive individuals on campus and the number of close contacts to those onsite positives. Here is a link to the dashboard. Click through the dashboard to see information specific to each school in District 230.

We hope that you find this information useful and as always, please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions.
