Weekly Update - August 19th - 23rd
Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School
Message from the Principal
Tomorrow we welcome back our Rangelians for another amazing school year. After spending the last several days together during PD sessions and teacher work days, I feel extra excited about what this year will bring.
As we begin the first semester, please remember our discussions from PD and consider ways you will do the following:
Remember Sally Nuamah's message about protecting our girls and making them feel safe in order to learn while working together to promote equity across our institution. Help them learn what it truly means to "achieve."
Remember the story of Mr. Posey's dreams and mission shared with us by Ms. Neely and keep our campus mission centered around all you do. Stay true to the values our school and network hold strong - college readiness, service leadership and health and wellness.
Take your lessons to the next level as Alan November showed us how to broaden our horizons with technology and the web. Find out what questions your students have, consider alternate ways to assess their learning and have fun while teaching!
Focus on our student culture with a tight morning routine. Greet students at the door, make eye contact and call them by name, set a strong entry routine and reinforce expectations during announcements and reciting our school's creed.
As you have seen from the duty schedule, you have the first week off to ensure a strong start in your classrooms.
Have an awesome first week of school!
Your proud principal,
Beverly Lusk
