Eat a Rainbow Nutrition Lessons
March is National Nutrition Month! This past week, the Commit to Be Fit team visited primary classrooms to share a fun nutrition lesson with the young students. The classes learned about the importance of eating a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables while enjoying a tasty, rainbow-colored fruit kabob. Additionally, the students played a game that incorporated naming various fruits and veggies by color. The classes enjoyed the nutrition activity and seeing the team dressed up as fruit!

Wellness Fun Fact of the Week!
Tips from the Team
Color
Ever have those days when your thoughts are racing? You have so much to do in the next week it’s impossible to think of the next thing for the present day. Sometimes we need to just stop, not only to let our bodies relax, but the mind also. Once again, think simple. Color.
When is the last time you picked up a pack of markers, sat down, and filled a page with color? Coloring is not just for the little ones. Adults can benefit too. Coloring can relieve stress, anxiety, and train our brains to focus. Staying in the lines helps keep our fine motor skills in tune. Not to mention, coloring is just plain satisfying.
Most stores carry a wide variety of coloring books designed for adults. The pictures are a bit more sophisticated and printed on higher quality paper. So next time you’re looking for a little down time, grab some markers, turn on some music, and cover a page with shades of happiness.
Eggcellent Source of Nutrients
It's almost Easter month so let’s talk about EGGS! Did you know that eggs have been recently referred to as "Nature's Multivitamin"? In the past, there have been some counterarguments that they contained high amounts of cholesterol and should be avoided when possible, but research is now showing their amazing health benefits. In fact, eggs contain vital nutrients to keep a healthy and balanced diet, including lowering “bad cholesterol” levels. In just one boiled egg, you will find a significant source of Vitamin A, E, B5, B12 as well as 7 grams of protein, all of which contain the 10 essential amino acids our body needs. These nutrients also increase the hormone leptin that help you feel satisfied and fuller longer after eating. A perfect food to start your day!
While it may not taste as good as that egg-shaped Reese’s candy bar or chocolate Cadbury eggs this Easter season, try to include one of those not sugary, nutrient rich eggs into your meals as often as you can!
