School is settling in...and germ season is starting!
So we can't follow the advice above, unless you want to be recommended to go see the real "Quack Shack," but you can put some preventative measures in place. Use hand sanitizer religiously, wash your hands every chance you get, and teach your students to cough and sneeze into their elbow instead of across the whole group area.
Many of us have already caught the first monthly virus going around (ugh me included!), and there will be many more to come. Double dose the vitamin C (a tip from Nurse Poole!) and keep surfaces clean (Clorox wipes are awesome for this!).
New teachers- good luck! Your immune systems may not be accustomed to the level of germs in a classroom just yet, so get lots of rest and use that hand sanitizer!
To Do reminders:
- Lesson plans posted in Schoology every Friday by 11:59 pm
- Content and language objectives posted in your room; related quality questions and/or sentence stems posted
- Do you have 3 days of emergency sub plans? Team leaders, please check with your teams that everyone has them done by Friday- lots of viruses going around!
- Late duty for this week is 1st grade
- Turn in hospitality dues to Amanda Garcia, 3rd grade teacher ($15 for professional, $10 for paraprofessional)
- CIA afterschool program- thank you for helping these students learn where to go for dismissal (a new group will be starting next week, email to come from Monica Gilliam)

Chancellor Champions! Comet of the Week and Staff Shout-outs!
- To honor each other, we are going to begin Comet of the Week! I will start the process today by nominating a staff member. That staff member will be responsible for nominating next week's Comet of the Week! This staff member will be recognized for performing above and beyond in some way here at Chancellor, and will earn a jeans pass and snack shack coupon, as well as the opportunity to nominate our next Comet of the Week. Our Comet of the Week's name will be displayed near the work room each week!
- Staff Shout-outs will be displayed by the workroom as well! Did a staff member do something really great today? Write a shout-out and hang it on the shout-out board. We will share the shout-out via our weekly newsletter as well! Time to recognize each other for helping prepare our students to change the world!
And this week's Comet of the Week is...Van Nguyen-Anderson!
Mrs. Anderson has done a fantastic job transitioning to the work room this year! There is a lot involved in taking over the work room, as well as working in the front office, PK duty, car rider duty, lunch duty, and other duties as assigned (which there are many!), and Mrs. Anderson has really shown true Comet spirit in all of it. She builds relationships with students, staff, and parents on a daily basis, and I have found her to be one of the calmest forces in the building when dealing with parents who might be in a highly emotional state. Thank you Mrs. Anderson for everything you do here at Chancellor!
Mrs. Anderson will earn a jeans pass and snack shack coupon, and has the opportunity to nominate any Chancellor staff member for next week's Comet of the Week!
Community Building is great any day of the week! Use circles to make a deep impact on your classroom community!
PLC #2 will incorporate restorative circles, goal-setting for teachers, and the unveiling of our school vision based on all the feedback received in staff meetings at the end of last year.
We are excited to promote the use of circles as a way to build relationships and community in your classroom, and we want everyone to feel comfortable to use them. I have been asked (several times THIS week) when are teachers allowed to do circles? The answer is, what works for you! Beginning of the day, end of the day, beginning of reading, right before or after recess, the choices are endless. A circle could be a quick 5 minute check-in or a 15-20 community or academic circle. Think about what makes sense in your schedule and where a circle could fit in. It is up to you. Add it to your lesson plan if you plan on consistently doing it the same day and time every week! You will not be penalized for doing a circle in your classroom, unless you are in circle all day; then we might have to talk. :)
