8th Graders Tour Bollman & Future Forward

On March 31, all 8th graders will be touring the two vocational/technical schools in Adams 12 Five Star Schools, Bollman and Future Forward. During this field trip, 8th graders will learn the different types of programs they are able to take while in high school. Please be on the lookout for your student to bring a permission form home the week of March 13th.

Highlight on Social Studies!

6th grade:

6th Social Studies is currently learning about the Columbian Exchange. The students goal is to make a claim as to whether it was positive or negative, overall. Then, students will defend that claim with cited text evidence.

7th grade:

7th grade Social Studies is taking on the Middle Ages! Mr. Williamson and Ms. Harton's classes just wrapped up Unit 4, which focused on Europe and the Middle East during the Middle Ages. Now, the classes have shifted their focus further east to think about Medieval Japan and the Mongolian Empire. Students have spent the last few days examining the development of the political structure in Japan -- and creating posters to teach their classmates!

7o grado:

Estudios Sociales de 7o grado está tomando la época medieval! Las clases del Sr. Williamson y la Srta. Harton acaban de terminar con la Unidad 4, la cual se enfocó en Europa y el Medio Oriente durante la época medieval. Ahora las clases han cambiado su enfoque en más hacia el este para pensar en el Japón medieval y el Imperio Mongol. Los estudiantes han pasado los últimos días examinando el desarrollo de la estructura política en Japón y creando pancartas para enseñar a sus compañeros/as.

8th grade:

8th Grade Social Studies is currently learning about the Westward Expansion era in U.S. History. We have been analyzing how the major events of this time period address issues of land, security, and sovereignty in the United States. As part of their summative assessment, students have been creating timelines in small groups.

Estudios Sociales de 8o actualmente está aprendiendo sobre la Era de Expansión en la historia de Estados Unidos. Hemos estado analizando eventos mayores de ese periodo de tiempo Como parte de evaluación sumativa, los estudiantes han estado creando líneas de tiempo en grupos pequeños.

6th grade Band Concert Rocks the School!

The 6th grade band had a fantastic concert! This was their second time performing, and they have learned so much since their first concert. We are now preparing for our final concert of the year, which is May 11th in celebration of our school's 60th Anniversary! We hope you can all make it!!

El concierto de banda de sexto grado fue un concierto fantástico! Esta fue solo su segunda vez tocando, y han aprendido muchísimo desde el primer concierto. Choir Celebrates Black History Month

8th grade choir performed for the whole school to celebrate black history month in February. The songs were about unity, freedom, and celebration of culture. They included "Lift Every Voice and Sing," known as the Black national anthem, Sisi ni Moja (“We are One”), and "Over my Head" a traditional African-American Spiritual song (photo below).

El coro de octavo grado tocó para toda la escuela para celebrar el mes de la Historia Negra en febrero. Las canciones incluyeron temas sobre unidad, libertad y celebración de cultura. 8th Grade Boys Basketball game March 3, 2023

The boys played really hard but came up short in their game Friday night vs Rocky Top. Avin Franklin led the Knights in scoring while ZZ Garey led the team in rebounds. Azriel Seoane once again led the JV in scoring and the JV team got contributions on the scoreboard from more players this week than last. The team's improvement is real, and the boys are looking forward to their upcoming games. Go boys!

Juego de Baloncesto de Niños de 8o grado el 3 de Marzo del 2023

Los chicos jugaron dando su mayor esfuerzo pero se quedaron cortos en el partido del viernes contra Rocky Top. Avin Franklin tomó el liderazgo del equipo sumando puntos mientras ZZ Garey lideró al equipo en rebotes. Azriel Seoane una vez más tomó el liderazgo de JV anotando y el equipo de JV obtuvo contribuciones en el marcador de parte de más jugadores esta semana que la anterior. La mejora del equipo es real, y los chicos esperan con ansias los siguientes partidos. Vamos chicos!

The social will take place on Wednesday, April 12th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Students will need to go home after school. They can return to NGMS around 4:15 to be dropped off for the event. At 6:00 p.m. students should be picked up in front of the school.

Things you can expect:

• Tickets will be given to students who attend school everyday during the week of April 3-7.

• Students must adhere to dress code, but are welcome to dress in dressy casual attire. This is NOT a formal event.

• Behavior considerations: exclusions will be made on an individual basis by administration in order to do our best to ensure safety for all students at the event.

• There will be no entry after 4:45.

• If students leave the social, they will not be able to return.

• There will be a photo area set up for students to take selfies and pictures with their friends.

• We will have a movie to watch with your friends.

• Basketball will be played in the gym.

• There will be a dance in the cafeteria.

• Snacks will be provided.

• There will be plenty of teacher chaperones.

• Appropriate music will be played and overseen by a staff member.

• We ask that students leave their backpacks at home.

We are looking forward to this fun social event and hope that you will allow your student to attend. For the safety of all students, only Northglenn Middle School students will be allowed to attend the social.

NGMS organiza el segundo evento social anual de Primavera!

El evento social tendrá lugar el miércoles 12 de abril de 4:30 p.m. a 6:00 p.m. Los estudiantes tendrán que irse a casa después de la escuela. Podrán regresar a la escuela alrededor de las 4:15 p.m. para irse al evento. A las 6:00 p.m. Los estudiantes deberán ser recogidos al frente de la escuela.

Leadership students did a Valentine’s Day Candy Gram and Clothing Drive in February. NGMS students and staff brought in warm socks, gloves, and hats to donate to the needy and got a candy gram to send to their sweetie! We donated over 50 items to a local organization who will distribute these items to those in need.

Los estudiantes de liderazgo hicieron tarjetas y dulces para el Día de San Valentín y colecta de ropa en Febrero. Estudiantes y personal de la escuela NGMS trajeron calcetines, guantes, y gorros para donar a los más necesitados y a cambio recibieron una tarjeta con un dulce para enviar a su amorcito! Donamos más de 50 artículos a una organización local que hará distribución de estos artículos a personas necesitadas.

Leadership students are also gaining experience running a small business! We’re selling concessions at the home basketball games, so be sure to stop by and get a snack!
