A Message from the Principal
Lauren Meeks
November 2, 2018
Happy Friday!
We have had a GREAT week of learning! Literacy Day was an absolute hit and we were so excited to see all the amazing book character costumes! The puppeteer was so fun and the kids LOVED him! Pumpkin Carving with Dads was another great event that put so many smiles on our students' faces! Thank you to everyone who made this day such a great memory!
We hope you enjoyed getting time to meet with your child's teacher on Thursday. Please remember that we are always available to meet with you, even outside of formal conference days. You just need to reach out to your child's teacher to set up a time to meet.
Have a great weekend!

Parkside Pajama Drive!
Here's a letter from one of our very own Parkside Mustangs...
Hi! I’m Mason, a 1st grader in Ms. Uhlaender’s class. Last year, I partnered with a friend to collect pajamas for children in need. Sometimes kids don’t have warm pajamas to sleep in or are going through some hard stuff, so I wanted them to feel loved.
This year, I thought we, as Mustangs, could serve together to really help some children! I am challenging Parkside Elementary to help collect 800 pairs of new pajamas!
Details:
*Bring new pajamas to school between November 5th-16th. There will be a box in the office.
*Sizes 10, 12, 14 or boys pajamas are needed most, but any new pajamas are appreciated!

Spinal Screenings for 5th grade Girls
Our school will do spinal screenings for 5th grade girls on 11/12 -11/16. State law says that schools must screen female students for spinal problems at age 10 and 12 or the fall semester of grade 5.
Important Recommendations:
· All students will have to remove their shirt for the exam.
· Girls should wear a sports bra or two-piece swimsuit top.
If you do not wish to have your child screened for religious reasons, you must submit an exemption to the school no later than 11/9/18. Letters with more detailed information will be sent home in Wednesday folders on 10/31/18. Thank you for your cooperation.
