Summary of Learning
Next Week's Learning Target
Daily Learning Targets:
- I can describe 3 literary conflicts.
- I can identify a conflict in the context of a narrative.
- I can analyze how the interactions of characters lead to specific conflicts.
Students will be discussing the conflicts that exist in a work of literature including character vs. character, character vs. self, and character vs. society. There are many more, but we thought these to be the most important to One Crazy Summer.
Character vs. Self is a conflict between the main character, the protagonist, and themselves, which could include self esteem issues, abandonment, etc.
Character vs. Character is a conflict that exists between two characters battling one another. The protagonist vs. the antagonist. The simplest example of this is the book Green Eggs and Ham-a conflict between Sam-I-Am and the character who did not want to try green eggs and ham.
Character vs. Society is a conflict that exists when the protagonist is battling societal pressures, norms, stereotypes, etc. In fact, the entire plot is based on the conflict between the two.

Middle School Choice

If you are a parent of the student that is in 5-04, please make sure they are rehearsing their dance to Sarafina. The song has been recorded on disks and given to students in the month of November.
