Morning Procedure
As the weather is changing, I want to remind families of our morning procedures. When it is dry, students are outside until 7:20am. At 7:20 am, the students that would like to eat breakfast are allowed to enter the cafe. Everyone else is outside until the bell rings at 7:35 am. We are outside until the weather is in the 10 degree range.
If you have a music student with an instrument, Ms. Franklin will escort groups to the music area to drop of their instrument and then the students will return to the cafe to eat or go back outside until 7:35am.
Our bells ring at 7:35am and students enter the building to proceed to lockers and classrooms. Class starts at 7:45 am. If your son/daughter arrive after 7:45am, they report to the office and they receive a tardy pass. If they are excused, please communicate the reason to the office so the tardy is excused.
Our goal is 95% attendance. We love having everyone at school and ready to learn.
Principal's Message
On Oct 9th, we had a different format for conferences which included a parent session from 4:30 - 6:00 and arena style conferences from 6:00 - 8:00. I want to thank you for the wonderful turn out which created some long lines and waiting for staff. I have gotten feedback from staff and parents on suggestions to improve. This information will be given to the committee that is focusing on increasing parent engagement. Please, feel free to call or email with suggestions as I work with this team and future events.
I wanted to inform families that Ms. Brokate recently resigned. Ms. Muyres is currently filling this role at Lane. The position is posted and interviews will be held. I want to ensure you that we will fill the position with the most qualified candidate. Please, direct academic questions to Ms. Muyres in the meantime.
Please, remind your son/ daughter to be on time to school and to class. We continue to review and enforce school wide expectations.

Attendance Matters!
6th grade Goals
1. Hands and feet to yourself
2. Walk to lunch with your teacher
We also worked as a grade level to discuss options for inside recess. We are outside when the weather is dry and above 10 degrees. However, when it rains we are in the aux gym.
Passes in the Hallway
The goal is to have students in class and learning. However, we know students need to go to the restroom, go to the office, etc. When a student leaves a class, we have a procedure in place.
A handwritten pass is needed anytime a student leaves the classroom.
Typically, passes are not given the first ten minutes or the last ten minutes of class.
If there is an immediate need, exceptions are made.
The pass should be signed, dated, and time marked
Students ask your teacher for permission.
Sign out on the sheet provided.
Have a timed and dated pass from your teacher.
Exit quietly and return in a timely fashion.
Pass Incentive -- Oct 21
If students have a pass in the hallway, the student will qualify for the incentive.
If students do not have a pass in the hallway, the student will not qualify.
Name, date, class and person who recorded will be documented
We will have a staff raffle as well.
If staff signs, dates, and time marks passes, they qualify.
If students do not have a signed pass from their class, they do not qualify.
List will be documented
Incentive will be held on Oct 21. Details will be shared.

Know the signs, dangers, and health risks of vaping.
As the questions and misconceptions surrounding vaping and its side effects intensify, Rogers Behavioral Health invites you to an informative community vaping forum on October 15. This event will feature presentations from the Brown Deer Police Department, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin's Dr. Louella Amos, and medical staff from Rogers' mental health and addiction treatment program, led by Dr. Amy Kuechler.
