Principal's Update

Non-Traditional Instruction Week of 4/6/2020

Dear Families,

I hope everyone is doing well. Tomorrow officially starts our Non-Traditional Instruction days. The district sent out communication on Thursday evening notifying families and employees of the extended closure through May 1.

By now, students should have heard from their teachers through emails or notifications in their Google Classrooms. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. This is new for everyone and we will do our best to make this as positive an experience as possible.

This week's video is a little longer than usual, but please take the time to watch it with your student.

Mr. Jones

Weekly Update April 5

NTI Days Extended Through May 1

Governor Beshear has recommended that school closures statewide should extend at least through Friday, May 1. Starting tomorrow, April 6, students should begin working on their NTI lessons and checking in to each of their teacher's Google Classrooms. Teachers will be available from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday to provide assistance. Students can always email their teacher and teachers will be available during the week through Zoom or Google Meet if students need face to face support.

Big picture

Chromebook Checkout and Packet Pick Up

Monday, April 6th, 9am to Tuesday, April 7th, 12pm

1813 Charleston Drive

Lexington, KY

If you were not able to checkout a Chromebook or pick up a packet of work for your student the week of March 23-27, we will have two days available this week. Chromebooks and packets will be available for pick up on Monday, April 6 and Tuesday, April 7 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. To ensure proper social distancing, we will be set up in the front foyer and will bring the items to you on the front porch.

If you have access to technology, it is not necessary to pick up a packet.

Zoom/Google Meet Schedule

Teachers will have drop-in hours during the week through Zoom or Google Meet if students need face-to-face support from their teachers. Below is their schedule of availability. This is optional for students, but highly recommended. Students should also be checking in with teachers through their Google Classrooms and by email. Teachers will communicate with their students on how to join the session.

Guidance and Support Staff

Our guidance counselors and support staff have been hard at work preparing ways to support our families, students, and staff in these uncertain times.

Check out their Google Site for great resources and ways to connect with them. Each counselor has created their own Google Classroom to keep in touch with and support students during our NTI days. They have sent the classroom code to student's school email addresses. Please check in with your student and encourage them to join.

Please reach out if you are in need of support or resources. We are here to help!

Our Family Resource and Youth Service Centers are also available to help with basic necessities. We are especially grateful to the Jenna and Matthew Mitchell Foundation at Blue Grass Community Foundation and The Calipari Foundation for making it possible to support hundreds of families during this unprecedented emergency.
