What was the change?
Nicolaus Copernicus
Galileo
Galileo was an Italian math professor who set out to prove many of aristotles theories about nature wrong. He used the telescope to study sunspots, the moons surface, and jupiters moons. The church did not agree with Galileos research. They wanted him to stop his research but he refused. So they put him on house arrest for the rest of his life until he died.
Isaac Newton
Isaac Newton discovered the law of universal gravitation. It stated that every object in the universe attracts every other object. He also proved the Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy. It stated that the universe opperated like a giant clock. He also agreed with religion and that god was the worlds creator. Therefore he had a popular appeal to society.
How did the change impact society at the time?
It impacted them greatly because it was a brand new thought and it changed the world. It made people get a better understanding of how the earth works. Up to now, everyone believed that the earth was the center of the universe and that god was the creator of the world but this revolution would bring up question.
How is that change evidenced in todays modern society?
From the scientific revolution many things have lasted to now. In everyday society we still use the scientific method. Also scientist now still believe and know that the sun is the center of the universe.
