FELIZ NAVIDAD
y próspero año nuevo
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Everybody!
All is well here in Colorado Springs. It has been a good year. This is officially my 30th year at CMHS. The group has been especially interesting as I have two students from Spain, one from Bolivia, another from Nicaragua, a Mexican, a Peruvian, and one Costa Rican. This is mad diversity for Cheyenne Mountain. It is always a challenge to keep up with them but I'm still enjoying it as much as I have in the past, so for the time being, no plans to retire soon.
Still have the chronic shingles...Could this thing be any slower? It is improving but exceedingly slowly. Maybe some sort of nerve damage? Quien sabe.
This year has been dedicated to learning more about how to integrate technology into my teaching. So far this year, I've spend 5 Saturdays up in Boulder at CU taking classes. Why does our school district not provide the training we need in this area? In any case, I've learned lots of fun things and am feeling much more comfortable with the lingo and the skills. Whether it is creating audio drop boxes, video drop boxes where the students can video tape themselves speaking Spanish with me using a video of me asking them the questions, podcasts, or course management systems, I'm learning so many exciting things. The communication piece is such an improvement and it is all in one place, no need to email them. I can send them a text and actually get a response. Whoa!!!!! Crazy stuff!
Not really much of a picture person but I did want to let you know that I'm thinking about you all and that you are loved!
Un fuerte abrazo (a big strong hug),
Pamela
