From the Principal
Dear Parents
We are heading into a very busy time of the year where many special events will be taking place in the lead up to the end of the school year. The first of these events will be our ‘Walk 2 School’’ day next Friday. Students are encouraged to join members of the staff at 7:30am at Oz Park. As a group, we will make the journey to school. Parents are welcome to join us and there will be a coffee van at school to serve parents. Children may bring their own cup and enjoy a milo.
In Week 7 we will be having our music recitals for students that have been learning guitar and piano. I look forward to joining parents in the school library and hearing the students showcase what they have learnt and how far they have come.
We would like to congratulate past students Will Burfoot and Angus Wauhop. Will has been elected College Captain at CBC next year and Angus will be taking on the role of a house captain. It is fantastic to see our students having continued success in high school.
A number of parents have been inquiring about teachers for 2020. In our next newsletter, in Week 7, we will announce all staffing for next year. We have very professional staff and we ensure that we utilise teachers within different classes and subjects to provide the best learning environment for your children. Teachers are unable to comment on their positions for next year so could parents please refrain from asking.
In the lead up to Christmas, the school will be running a St Vincent De Paul appeal for those members of our community that are less fortunate. The teachers will be sending out a list of suggested donations next week and we ask families to give generously.
The school’s final Board meeting will be held on the 27th November. We have two outgoing board members and are currently looking for any parents that would like to fill these positions. Our P&F are also looking for any parents interested in stepping into the President or Vice President roles. If you are interested in any of these positions, can you please fill in a nomination form and hand it in to Gaynor at front office. Elections will take place at the end of year AGM held at 6:30pm on 4th December in the school library.
New legislation was put in place on the 20th June regarding student immunisation. This affects all students within the school and we are required by law to keep records and notify the Health Department of any students who are not fully immunised. Gaynor Cook will be contacting parents that we do not have complete records for but if you are aware that your child has not been immunised, could you contact the school to provide the required paperwork.
