A Note from the Principal
Thank you for all that you are doing to follow new protocols that have been in place as part of our Responsive Return Plan as well as the vigilance so many of you have shown in monitoring for symptoms. It is imperative that we all continue to be vigilant, especially as COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Ohio. I sincerely appreciate the open communication families have shown during this time. We really are in this together with the same goal of keeping our students and staff safe and healthy. Here are just a few reminders:
- If your child is exhibiting symptoms, please keep him/her at home. Please take your child's temperature and assess for other symptoms at home each morning.
- Please have regular conversations with your children about the importance of maintaining social distance and wearing masks properly at all times. These are two important "layers" that are essential in keeping everyone safe.
- If a family member who lives in the home is being tested for COVID-19, please do not send your child to school until the results are received. If the family member tests positive, your child is considered a close contact and should quarantine for 14 days.
- If your family travels to a state that is on the Ohio Department of Health's COVID-19 Travel Advisory List, it is recommended by ODH that your child quarantine for 14 days upon return. The states on the list have a positivity rate of 15% or higher. The list of states is updated every Wednesday. The most recent one can be found here.
Again, thank you for your vigilance and support!
Grace and peace,
Ms. Diane Raguz, Principal

Student Education Plan for Quarter 2
As we approach the end of the first quarter on October 30, we would like to once again offer you, if interested, an opportunity to change your child’s schooling option. If you are comfortable with the learning option you have chosen for your child and do not want to change, there is nothing that you need to do. If you would like to change your child's learning option, please notify us of your intent by Friday, October 23, 2020. You can do this by completing this form.
Students who wish to change their schooling option will begin their new schooling option on Monday, November 2, 2020 which is the start of the second quarter. We do ask that this commitment be made until the middle of the quarter.
Please know that we are committed to doing what is best for our students and SPB families and that we know this is a very challenging time for all of us. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call the school office.

Walkathon 2020
Hello School Parents!
Our 10th annual Saint Paschal Baylon Walkathon for Catholic Education is almost here! Although this year’s event will certainly look different, we are so excited and blessed to be able to continue this tradition and to raise funds to help support our students and the PTO’s technology initiative, which pays for technologies that support STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Math) education at SPB! This year’s Walkathon will take place on Friday, November 6, and further details about the day’s events will be forthcoming.
This year, we have made some significant changes, so please read this information carefully. There will be NO PAPER PACKETS being sent home this year, nor paper sponsor letters to mail. There is a link below to share with family and friends to allow them to continue to support our Walkathon, so please pass the word along!
- RECESS LAPS À STUDENT AND FAMILY ACTIVITIES:
Unfortunately, we will not be able to have the students complete laps of the parking lot/playground during their lunch recess this year, although we are hoping to be able to provide the in-school students with at least one opportunity to complete a similar Walkathon activity at SPB. But, this wouldn’t be a walkathon if the students weren’t asked to do something! This year, all SPB students, both in-person and synchronous learners, whether or not they are participating in the fundraising and sponsorship aspects of the Walkathon, are asked to complete physical activities at home with their families and submit the number of minutes they were active via the following form:
https://forms.gle/w588ENJMqcgZaDzy5Students and families may tally any physical activity that they do, not just walking (e.g., jumping jacks, push-ups, dancing, playing basketball, etc.). We are leaving this intentionally open-ended to allow students and families to be as creative and active as they would like! You will need to complete this form separately for each activity that you do, and you may submit as many forms as you would like. These activities will be tallied and announced on November 6th, so please submit your information by 7 pm November 5th.

Although we are not sending out sponsor letters to out-of-town friends and family this year, they may also support our school and students by the same payment methods, so please reach out to them with this information. Historically, these sponsorships have raised about 1/3 of our total funds, so please, please spread the word, share the link, and/or ask your friends and family to mail their donations to the school or church office “Attn: Walkathon”!!!
If you know someone who would like to be a business sponsor, please contact: Melissa Vogley at mvogley9@gmail.com or 330-671-7268.

Sponsoring families may also order additional t-shirts for $10 each via the same form. You may pay for the additional shirts at the same time as your sponsorship by including the additional amount in your online or physical payment, or you may send payment separately. You may not order t-shirts without completing one of the sponsorship levels outlined above.
T-shirt orders (and any required payments) MUST BE RECEIVED by OCTOBER 16th.
- QUESTIONS?:
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Melissa Vogley at mvogley9@gmail.com or by phone at 330-671-7268.
Thank you for your continued support of our school and our students! The annual Walkathon has helped to fund so much for our students over the past nine years, and with your help this year will be no exception! Spread the word, complete your sponsorships and activities, and let’s help our school and students “go forth & light our world!”

Hot Lunch Menu Update
6th & 7th Grade Parents-We Need YOU!
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:15 am-12:50 pm. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!
This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:10 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting the students to and from the school doors. Volunteers will be with one school staff member each day to help direct.
Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.
COVID-19 Volunteer Protocol: all recess volunteers are required to wear a mask and complete the Visitor Self-Screening form when they arrive at school.
Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the following links to sign up: Grade 7, Grade 6
