Service Before Self!

Ms. Slease STRIVE group went to the Sanford Breadbasket on November 24, 2014. They planned, prepared, and served a meal of chicken noodle soup, mashed potatoes, sandwiches, fruit salad, desserts, and lemonade as well as helping to prep a few items for later this week. Not only did these girls feed almost 200 people at the breadbasket, when we went to taco bell for lunch, they also decided to each donate a dollar to feed children when they got their food. Each dollar fed four children. Which means these girls used their own money to feed 40+ children. The students kept saying how eye opening their experience was, and how much more they want to do for the Breadbasket. They are planning a return visit after their next project--a coat drive for those who go to the Breadbasket

Learning Takes Place Through Theatre

"On Friday, December 5th, 7th grade students got the opportunity to visit Temple Theatre to watch a performance of The Sanders Family Christmas. This musical comedy tells the story of the Sanders Family Singers as they prepare to say goodbye to their son as he leaves to fight in World War II. This heartwarming peak at a Christmas Eve service in 1941 gave students an understanding of the culture of the south as the U.S. entered World War II. The students and teachers that went really enjoyed the "Christmas in Other Lands Medley. Jalid Guerrero, a student in Ms. Redding's homeroom, said, "I liked the show because I was able to sing along with the actors!" We are so thankful that Temple Theatre provided this experience for our students. We also want to thank Mr. Martin for once again organizing an excellent field trip!

East Lee Angel

East Lee's Angel Tree is shining bright in the front office! The first 11 angels were adopted before the tree was even up! Thank you Rockets for supporting those in need this holiday season. 10 new ornaments were added the morning of December 5th and are ready to be claimed. If adopting an angel off the tree, please remember to report the number at the top of the ornament to Mrs. Harris to ensure all angels are accounted for. Families will pick up gifts on December 18th, so please bring all gifts wrapped and labeled with the ornament number to school no later than December 17th.
