Knowledge about Copyrighting and Licensing
Copyright
Copyright is a collection of rights granted to the author of the work. (i.e. a movie, a photo, a product)
The Five Types of Licenses
1. Public Domain - Isn't protected by copyright law because the copyright expired, the user made it with public money, donated the work to the public domain.
2. Freeware - Copyrighted work that you can use, copy or give away for free.
3. Shareware - Copyrighted work similar to Freeware but if you want the full thing you have to purchase it.
4. All Rights Reserved - May be used by the buyer according to the details spelled out in the license agreement.
5. Open Source - Includes the source code with the idea that someone can use it.
