Ms. Linda's Letter
Dear Preschool Families,
Many of you are likely familiar with the many changes that DHEC and our Fort Mill School District has made regarding the handling of COVID cases. York County has finally moved to "yellow" and the good news is that we currently do not have any students or Staff members with COVID or on quarantine and we hope that trend continues.
Because most of our students are not (and cannot) be vaccinated, we will continue to follow our church policy that requires masks for anyone working with children under 5. We will continue to keep our classes separated while inside, but we are working with our Regathering Team (our COVID response team that has met weekly since the pandemic started) to approve whether we can allow some class interaction during outside time, eliminate morning temperature checks, and host a family outside lunch picnic in May.
Just a reminder to SPRING FORWARD this weekend.
Much love,
Ms. Linda
Director - Unity Preschool
Green Day and Kindness Day
Our next Color Day is Thursday, March 17 and it will be GREEN DAY! For many years, a leprechaun has visited Unity Preschool causing mischief in our classrooms, but also leaving some treats. We look forward to following clues to see if we can catch him this year.
Our Next Spirit Day is Thursday, March 31. We are WILD ABOUT KINDNESS at Unity Preschool so wear animal print attire and we will be doing some special projects to share kindness with our classmates, teachers, Church Staff and some homebound congregation members. A sign-up genius link was sent to Preschool parents this week to help us make this day extra special. Thank you for your generous response.
Teacher Feature - Ms. Jen
Ms. Jen Prelog is in her second year at Unity Preschool. She currently works with Ms. Dannielle as our Assistant Teacher in our Older Two's (Bee) class. Ms. Jen was previously an Assistant in our Three's class before taking a COVID sabbatical. Ms. Jen is a former Medical Assistant for a pediatrician, turned stay-at-home mom, until joining the teaching world at Unity.
Ms. Jen and her husband, Chad, have two children: Layla (6th grade at Forest Creek Middle) and Nolan (3rd grade at Doby’s Bridge Elementary School and a Unity Preschool alum). Ms. Jen and her husband, Chad met in college and have been together for over 20 years. They have moved around quite a bit. They are originally from Wisconsin but moved down to Florida 15 years ago, then up to Ohio, and then finally to the Carolinas 8 years ago. Ms. Jen and her family enjoy many outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking, biking, and camping. They also love to travel - especially going to Disney and Ms. Jen's happy place, Hilton Head Island. You will often find them on the soccer field cheering on both of their children and during football season they cheer on their favorite football team - The Green Bay Packers!
Here are a few of Ms. Jen’s favorites:
Favorite Foods: Italian and Mexican
Favorite Music: Pop and Christian
Favorite Book: Harry Potter series
Favorite Movie: The Breakfast Club
Favorite Activities: Spending time with family, sitting at the beach, hiking

COVID Update
We are happy to report that our quarantine numbers have much improved since our last newsletter. We currently have no Staff or students with COVID or on quarantine. We will continue to monitor so please let us know if someone in your immediate household has COVID. In fact, we had only two children absent this week and both were on trips.
Thank you for your faithfulness in keeping your child home if you or your child are not feeling well. We encourage you to temperature scan and monitor your child closely for any sign of potential illness. Students should remain at home if they are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, new or persistent cough, headache, loss of taste or smell, fatigue and/or stomach issues (diarrhea). It is also helpful to keep your children home if another family member in the household has similar symptoms.
We recognize that CDC quarantine guidelines are confusing and changing. We have a direct contact with DHEC so if you have any questions regarding whether you think your child should quarantine, please just ask. We pray that we continue to remain COVID-free.
