News from this week
Dear Parents,
Next week is conference week, and I look forward to meeting with all of you to discuss your child's progress. Your child is welcome to come with you and sit in on the conference. I like for the students to hear all of the good things they are doing and the things they need to work on. I also like for them to participate in the conference and to feel like they are part of a team to help them be successful. I have a very tight schedule on Wednesday and Thursday, with most of the conferences being back to back. Please make sure to arrive on time, and I will do my best to stay on schedule. If you are unable to make it for some reason, please let me know as soon as you can and reschedule it in PTCFast.
We finished up our unit on the American Revolution and most of the students did very well on their test. There was a lot of information, but they did a great job of studying. They also did a GREAT job with Choice Board projects! Next week, the students will present their projects to the class to show off all of their hard work.
Remember that I have Math Morning sessions every Tuesday, unless you hear from me. This is a great time to get extra help, especially if your child is having some difficulties with math. We have a test next Friday on Factors, Multiples, Prime, and Composite numbers. This is a much easier unit than the Division unit, but some concepts are still tricky.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! I look forward to seeing you next week!

PBIS
Thank you parents for supporting PBIS here at Gwin Oaks Elementary School. We are off to a GREAT start. As a part of PBIS, recognition and consequences are given to students to support the continual learning of being ready, being respectful, and being responsible. These can be given by classroom teachers, specials teachers, counselor, and administrator. Currently, we have student recognition in the classrooms and will have school wide recognition as well, beginning in the month of October. If a student receives a consequence, it will be consistent and fair. Teachers will ensure students understand the reason for the consequence and he/she should be able to tell you exactly what occurred. There will also be a PBIS form sent home documenting the incident and consequence. If you have a question regarding the situation, please contact the teacher that gave the consequence. Thank you for supporting our efforts by discussing concerns at home. We look forward to continuing our successful year.
