Playworks Comes to Sunflower
We would like to share with you the good news that we have decided to partner with Playworks, a national non-profit, to ensure that we are doing our best to incorporate healthy, inclusive play into our school day - every day, for every student.
Playworks will help equip our staff and community with the tools needed to create a positive recess experience for every one of our students. By shifting behavior on the playground, we expect to see more positive student engagement, more fun play opportunities and reduced negative episodes so that our students can return to the classroom ready to learn.
Our Recess Team, composed of teachers and a recess coach, will use a brand of games designed to promote inclusion. Additionally our team will apply new group management techniques to teach students how to play well together, resolve conflicts, and develop leadership skills.

Get to Know Us!
Last year through parents on our SITE Council we learned that many parents in the community did not know about many of the programs, philosophies, etc...at Sunflower. We made it our mission to make sure parents knew all of the wonderful things that occur at their child's school.
Last spring teachers created videos to highlight the top programs at Sunflower Elementary. We have added this as a regular feature to our newsletter. Below is the information from our newsletter to parents and our first video highlight.
