September in the Library
2018
Welcome back (or to) DMS!
Spotlight On: Banned Book Week
For September the spotlight was on Banned Books Week, which ran from September 23-29. Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom we have to read! All over the country, and the world, books are challenged or banned in schools and public libraries. Appreciate that you can read practically anything you want! Students could look at our display of books that have been banned or challenged somewhere in the United States, and find out why! Check out the American Library Association website for more information.

NoodleTools: Not Just For Citations
Teacher Collaboration
Ms. McLeod's and Ms. Huff's 6th grade English classes came to the library for a library orientation. Students learned how to use the library catalog, how everything is organized in the DMS library, and how to check out books. Then they had some browsing time!
7th and 8th grade English classes were all in for Trimester I booktalks. Students heard about some new books and were encouraged to check out a book for independent reading.
This year we have a new citation program called NoodleTools. In September, Ms. Bloch's classes got to be the first to experience NoodleTools 101. We'll see the rest of the school in October!
