East Knox County Elementary News
May 2019
Principals' Corner
May is always a bittersweet time of the year. It's a bitter time because it is hard to say goodbye to our wonderful Fifth Grade class that we have had for 6 and in some cases 7 years (if we had them in Pre-K). We are looking forward to celebrating our 5th graders on May 22nd. It's also a sweet time of year because summer holidays are right around the corner and I know that we are all looking forward to a break. As the year winds down, be sure to encourage your child to finish the year strong by continuing to do their important job of learning and by being at school every day that they are not sick.
We have been focusing on improving our attendance rate this year. Please remember that attendance counts on the last half-day of school on May 23rd. We are planning a Half-Day of Holiday Fun that will include a dance party, our attendance party, and teacher field day (which is always hilarious) in the gym. Be sure to come to school on the last day before we are out for the summer.
Remember that we are Cougars who Care about each other, Always problem solve, Read and respond, and Engage in learning. Be sure to read 20 minutes every night.

East Knox County Elementary School is 40 Years Old
On Friday, May 3rd, we celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the opening of our wonderful school. Several former administrators and staff members came to celebrate with us and spoke during the evening. Former chorus students performed and we enjoyed a wonderful slide show of past memories created by Mr. Simpson. If you would like to learn more about our school history, be sure to play the East Knox School History Trivia game. To play, go to this website: https://quizizz.com/join/ and enter this code: 609194. The game will be open until May 22nd.
