We are now recruiting students who would like to get paid for tutoring. Applications are available in the Counseling office and are due 9/20. Once we have compiled the list, it will be available in the Counseling Office and at the front desk in the office.

Free Tutoring/Study Aids

There are many free options for working to improve your grades and test scores. These are just some of the great resources we have:

Student Tutoring in the Library

Peer Tutoring will be available after school Monday-Thursday in the PHS Library. This service is free for all students. If you need extra help in a specific class come check it out!

SAT/ACT Test Prep

The PHS Library offers access to an excellent study tool through Gale's TERC (Testing & Education Reference Center). They offer personalized online courses for the SAT and ACT, as well as several practice tests and online study books. Access is available through the PHS Library website with the username: powayhs and password: titans17

College Board and Khan Academy have teamed up to help students prepare for their SATs. Once a student has taken the PSAT, they are able to utilize these tools via their College Board accounts. Students can look at their PSAT results and find specific study tools and evaluations for how to improve their skills. There are also video lessons, full-length practice tests, and personalized study plans. Sign up for free today through satpractice.org

College Prep Testing

PSAT

The PSAT will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. All 10th grade students are automatically registered and paid for by Poway Unified. This exam is a great opportunity to find out what you can work on to get the best score possible on the SAT.

Taking the PSAT again during the Junior year can help improve SAT scores and provides entry to the National Merit Scholarship Program.

9th and 11th graders register to take the PSAT by paying $18 to the Finance Office.

Note: 11th graders who are on Free/Reduced Lunch may be able to have their exam fee waived. To request a waiver, please see Miss Hughes in the Counseling Office.

ACT/SAT

Consider taking the SAT and/or ACT tests. Colleges will accept either test and will focus on the higher score. Check with the colleges you are most interested in to see which test they prefer. These tests are not administered during school, so you will need to register for them through their websites. Some SAT dates are available on our campus.

You can find a list of important dates and deadlines to sign up for the ACT and/or SAT on our website here.
