ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Families,
Thursday was a inspiring day at CCS, as our amazing drama cast and crew performed Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. for the entire school. Students and staff were mesmerized from the moment the curtain rose! The students participating in this year’s musical have been diligently preparing for this week’s performances since January, under the amazing guidance of Director Lindsey Baldwin and Musical Director Monica Littlefield.
Performances are tonight at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. We hope everyone takes time to make it to this year’s performance, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. - you will not be disappointed!
Have a wonderful weekend!

VERMONT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA - BRIEF REVIEW BY JADIN BROWN
The Vermont Symphony Orchestra (VSO)
From the moment the bows and buttons of the instruments hit their first note until the moment the final silence plagued the Flynn to be swiftly replaced by cheerful applause, I listened to the immense focus and articulation of the cellos, the creative plinks of the violins and the soft coos from the flutes. Among the other instruments, of course, I also retained my silence just to hear, and through the beautiful melodies that followed, I do believe that the Vermont Symphony Orchestra has demonstrated incredible ability, knowledge and understanding within the concept of music.
But even before the concert, during the splendid tour of the underground labyrinth some call the “Flynn,” and during the dinner prior, served to us by the chefs whom we are forever grateful for, I was able to meet several faces in particular to educate me about musical performance and the art of sound. It also set the pre-concert tone quite nicely. I gained great knowledge from these few faces, and one of which even discussed to me the Vermont Youth Orchestra; a group of people I immediately wanted to become a part of.
Thank you, VSO, for your time, dedication and delivery.
We are all looking forward to your next appearance.

TEEN LIT MOB AT CVU BY ELLA BEERWORTH
Today five Charlotte Central School Omega students Ella Caldwell, Natalie Scriver, Kieran Roberta, Kate Kogut, Will Lollis and Ella Beerworth (me) attend teen lit mob (TLM) at CVU. The teen lit mob is an event about literacy, writing and reading. TLM is mainly for people who love to read and write. The activities this year at TLM include five different workshops run by authors Amy Rose Capetta, Cori McCarthy, Ann Davila Cardinal, Mackenzi Lee, Kekla Magoon and Stephanie Zuppo. The Workshops all have different focuses around writing.
All students who participated in TLM receive a free tote bag with four free books. They also get five raffle tickets to use in the TLM raffle. At the end of the event you get a chance to ask the authors questions you have about them or their experiences. People who participated in this event had a fun and good experience.
INFORMATION REGARDING SHIFTS IN K-4 CLASS STRUCTURES
2019/2020 PLACEMENT - PARENT INPUT FORM NEEDED FOR GRADES K-1-2-4-5-6 - DUE DATE 4/19
Dear Kindergarten, First, Second, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grade Parents,
At this time of year, one of the items we turn our attention to at CCS is the transition of students from one grade to the next. The placement of all students at Charlotte Central School occurs within a process, which includes the integration of information from teachers, families, and administrators. The goal of the process is the successful placement of all children within balanced classroom environments.
Please click on the Parent Input Form, which we are asking you to complete. This profile will be an invaluable component in helping build a more comprehensive picture of who your child is as an individual. The purpose of this form is to provide you with meaningful participation in the placement process.
The information you provide on this form will be shared among classroom, essential arts and support services teachers, and administrators. This ensures clear and useful communication about your child’s educational progress and development. Your participation in this process is both welcomed and essential. We will make the placement decisions utilizing all available information for each child. Our goal is to form highly functioning classes of students, balancing among other things, academic skills, emotional/behavior needs, gender, learning styles, and peer relationships.
In recent years, we have had looping classes in grade 1-2 and 3-4. As communicated previously this week, there are changing structures for our elementary classrooms and teams. This means that students in Grades 1 and 2 will be in three multi-grade classrooms (some areas of their program will be grade-specific and some will be multi-grade). Grades 3 and 4 will be grade-specific next year (there is no plan to change class groupings for Grade 3 next year), with some areas of collaboration as we move toward a more integrated 3-4 model for 2020-2021.
We appreciate your time and effort in filling out this form. Please return this form to Cindy LaWare in the CCS Office by Friday, April 19, 2019.
COMMUNITY SUBSTANCE USE AND PREVENTION FORUM
The Town of Williston is hosting a substance use and prevention forum with a focus on our community's youth. This will be the first in what is hoped to be an ongoing dialogue about the brain chemistry of addiction and strategies for prevention.
The forum will include the latest data from Christine Johnson, the Executive Director of the Chittenden County Opioid Alliance, new educational videos, break out group discussions and a facilitated full group discussion.
Though the event is free, signing up in advance is requested, using the link below.
