Attention 5th Grade Families:

Middle School Choice Survey

Hello 5th Grade Families!

Many of you have filled out your Middle School Choice forms, but for those of you who have not done so yet, please have these filled out and submitted by November 23 (at the latest). If you are planning to enter into the MS choice lottery there is an additional, official application that needs to be filled out and submitted by November 23.

***Even if your child does not plan to attend CMS in 6th grade, you still need to fill out the form and submit it by November 23.***

As a reminder CMS 5th graders have the choice between 2 feeder middle schools (that they will automatically be accepted into); CMS or your neighborhood middle school. If you are choosing one of those middle schools, then you indicate "yes" when answering the question "Do I want my feeder middle school?" Then click next (to section 2) and you indicate which feeder middle school choice you want (CMS or neighborhood school). You can only pick one, then submit.

If you are choosing to enter the lottery, you would say "no" to the question "do I want my feeder school?" and then move on to the next section (section 3) and indicate which MS choices you want and submit. I will then send you the official application to be filled out and submitted. If you need help with this process, I am available to assist you.

Parents will be notified on Dec 16th about the lottery results. If your child enters the lottery and is NOT picked for one of their choice schools, they will automatically be placed to attend their feeder middle school. At that point I will reach out to you to find out if you want your child placed at CMS or your neighborhood school.

Today's Background Art

Miss Sue's 4th Grade Reading group read a book about Smile Artist, Bren Batacian. Bren would leave one of his paintings along with a note, "This painting is yours if you promise to smile at random people more often."

The 4th graders thought this was a great idea and wanted to share Bren's message to everyone at CMS K-8. Our background features one of the students' amazing drawings.
