Instructional Expectations for Excellence - Utilizing Effective Planning Tools
The above pictures are evidence that excellence in teaching is taking place across the campus!
Each week, I will provide reminders regarding basic instructional expectations that we have on our campus. This week, I am reminding all Guzick Giant educators to ensure that you are designing clear, targeted, appropriately rigorous lessons for diverse learners (TEI Domain 1).
The expectation is that as you are planning your lessons you are ensuring that all lesson objectives, activities, materials, and assessments are:
-logically sequenced
-relevant to prior knowledge
-provides appropriate time for student work, lesson, and lesson closure
-aligned to state content standards
-linked to broader goal or transferable skill
(TEI 1.5).
Our PLC structure and Extended Planning Days are great opportunities for each Guzick Giant teacher to collaborate and share best practices around lesson plans. The following resources are must haves for planning Good First Instruction and Interventions:
-Instructional Planning Calendars
-Lead4Ward Resources
-TEKS Resources (Instructional Focus Document, YAG, and TEKS Clarification Document -Math)
-Released Local Assessments for backwards planning (assessments.dallasisd.org)
Differentiated PD - 10/19/18 - Call For Presenters
Awesome Opportunity to Share Best Practices and Also to Add to Your Curriculum Vitae/Resume or be used for your DTR Application
We are accepting Proposals for Presentations for the Differentiated PD Sessions. We currently have 2 Differentiated Professional Development Days scheduled for the school year (10/19, 2/15). We are asking for practical, innovative presentations that are aligned to our Campus Improvement Plan Key Action Items. This is an awesome opportunity for teachers to share their experience, knowledge, and successes with the entire Guzick staff. Additionally, presenting at the campus level can lead to presentations at the district, state, and national level. I can attest to the pure joy I felt presenting at the 2018 Region X Principal’s Conference last week.
Those interested in presenting will need to complete the attached proposal form and return it back to me via email no later than Monday, October 15, 2018. I look forward to a fantastic year of learning from each other as we grow our Guzick GIANT students!
