Comparative Poetry Analysis

Hannah Hallman Hour 2

Introduction

Have you ever read a poem and just thought to try and understand the meaning of it? I will be sharing my understandings of the two poems "Prayer to the Pacific" and "Problems with Hurricanes." My understandings will be about the differences of Figurative Language, Tone and Word Choice, and Structure and Form.

Conclusion

Those are my understandings of the Tone and Word Choice, Figurative Language, and Structure and Form. The authors styles affect the poem because they help us understand the poem and put an image in our minds. In "Problems with Hurricanes" I think the theme is that even though something might look okay it could actually be harmful. Then in "Prayer to the Pacific" I think the theme is that we should respect and take care of nature, and maybe not just nature but each other as well. To conclude, if you look for context clues such as, Tone and Word Choice, Figurative Language, and Form and structure they help us understand the true meanings of the poems.
