Information and updates
Jog-A-Thon
Thank you to all the volunteers and banana donors who made the Jog-A-Thon possible. Special kudos to our school Volunteer Co-Coordinators, Nicole Chapman & Sara Hurwitz, who stayed all three days. Most of all, MANY THANKS to Mr Behrens who inspired all to achieve their goals and made those days incredibly special and FUN!! The class numbers are getting tallied, but all students combined achieved 16,917 laps. That's about 677 miles!! There will be many classrooms who will win their team goal and a trophy. Student Certificates will be coming home this week. Everyone has a lot to be proud of.
The APA will be accepting donations for another few weeks. Look for the rising count thermometer in the hallway by the office following Thanksgiving break. Our school goal is $10,000. All students can earn a prize just for returning the envelope, just circle the item you wish to receive at the bottom. No donation is necessary.
Pe and wellness news
PE NEWS
It's hard to beat the enthusiasm and energy of Jog-a-Thon week. Yikes! One PE class this week was devoted to running/walking as many laps as possible during a 20 minute session. Efforts ranged from amazing to stupendous. When they finished, each child sported a beet-red face, produced a small inferno of heat, and carried a sense of satisfaction that comes from a job well done. An army of parent volunteers makes this run smoothly...thanks. The other PE class of the week started with light jogging, then transitioned to core exercises and yoga poses. The second half of that class worked on soccer dribbling and passing between partners and then some big kicks across the gym.
WELLNESS NEWS
Encourage your child to bring home a fact about No Soda November. More than a dozen are taped to the wall in the hallway. Next Tuesday is the November AIM Class Challenge. Classes with the highest percentage of participation are awarded a coveted trophy for the month. Plan ahead for Take Your Parents to PE week during the second week of January. Plan ahead for January 26th when the Wellness Committee is hosting a free open gym at Peak Elite around midday.

Walk and Bike to school day
Walk & Bike to School is scheduled on the first Wednesday of each month and we need your help! Our goal is to recognize the students who have walked or biked to school that day. We need volunteers to help staff the tables at the entrance to the school to distribute participation tickets and fruit leather. We also need volunteers positioned at Western View to help safely walk with the students who are dropped by the bus or their parents at that area. Please sign up here https://signup.com/go/oLHNfcL for the volunteer position that interests you. Thank you for your willingness to help!
