Manitoba Remote Learning Centre - Registration 2022-23

The Manitoba Remote Learning Centre will continue for the 2022-23 school year.

Please read the details below to learn more about the MRLC for the next school year.

  • A team of teachers will be available to offer remote online learning to students learning from home.
  • The allocation, right now, is approximately one teacher per grade (grades 1 – 8) with a maximum capacity of 240 students. Capacity may increase upon demand.
  • Manitoba Remote Learning Support Centre teachers will offer English remote learning with the potential for French Immersion, based on need, for students in Grades 1 to 8.
  • For the 2022 – 2023 school year remote learning for students in grades 1 – 8 who are immunocompromised or who live in households with immunocompromised family members.

  • Students receiving remote learning through the Manitoba Remote Learning Centre will become students of the St. James-Assiniboia School Division until they choose to return to their brick-and-mortar school.
  • Schools of Choice Forms may need to be completed to finalize registration.
  • Students will be accepted on a first come first served basis.

Fitness Class Update

Many of our remote learners participated successfully in a short gymnastics unit where they had a chance to improve their core strength and challenge themselves with a series of balances and easy gymnastic moves. All these activities are completely optional, and caregivers should work with children to find what activities are challenging yet safe.

Our next topic also requires caregiver supervision. We will look at indoor obstacle courses that students can develop themselves, similar to Parkour which is traveling over/under obstacles. If students do not have the space or do not feel comfortable with this activity they can continue working on their balances, skipping, juggling, core exercise, flexibility training etc. As always we do a warm up and exercise session every class.

Keep in touch with your child’s teacher on a regular basis to learn about your child’s progress and engagement. If your child must be away on a day or part of a day, please inform your child’s teacher so they can mark attendance accordingly. RLSC teachers take attendance once in the morning and once in the afternoon. If a child is marked ABSENT two times in one day, the caregiver will receive a phone call from Mrs. Lori Vassart ( to check in to see if things are ok and to encourage attendance the next day.

RLSC Clubs Sign Up

To encourage Students to socialize and have some additional fun during their school day RLSC staff are creating a number of clubs throughout the week. These are entirely optional and just opportunities to connect with different kids and staff. Please check off ALL the options that you are interested in joining!

Sign up anytime! Once this form is completed, the teacher running the club will invite students to a TEAMs meeting to participate!

Note: If a student signs up for a club and it happens during a synchronous lesson, the student must attend the synchronous lesson and then join the club when the lesson is over.

Students can sign up for these opportunities here: RLSC Clubs Registration Page.
Important: an email account must be used to access the registration page.
